The Channel Strip Ranked No. 1 by MIX OnlineThough we announced the production of The
Channel Strip just a few months ago, it's already an award-winning unit! Our Channel Strip has just been ranked No. 1 in a list of this year's top gear as
determined by MIX Online! We love that audio professionals are just as excited
about our new product as we are, and we're happy to let everyone know that Channel Strips are now shipping. If you haven't checked out The Channel Strip for yourself

Lost Origin Productions Recording the "Beth Gazo"
This project might just be one of the most unique things API gear has ever been involved in. Musician, photographer and writer Jason Hamacher and
his company, Lost Origin Productions, are in the process of making the first-ever recordings of the "Beth Gazo," an extensive collection of
ancient Syrian chants with roots dating back to the year 190. The chants, which are nearly 24 hours long when played back-to-back, have been used by
Syria's St. George's Orthodox Church for nearly 2,000 years and have only ever been passed down by mouth. When Hamacher decided to record the chants,
he knew he had to head over to Syria with the right equipment in tow. Upon a friend's recommendation, he chose the API 3124+ Discrete 4 Channel Mic/Line
Pre. He told us that the quality, durability and ease of use of the 3124+ have made the recording process nothing but smooth. He also told us that even
though he's not a full-time engineer and he doesn't own his own studio, the recordings still sound "amazing." Jason still has a lot of
recording to do, but we can't wait to hear everything when he's finished! See Press Release |
Seventh 1608 Sent to the Netherlands
After working with us for just over three years, Helios Pro Audio Solutions has recently helped place a seventh API 1608 in the Netherlands. As the
country is about the size of Maryland (the state where we are based), we consider Helios' accomplishment a huge achievement. Ulmt van der Linden, Sales
and Marketing Manager at Helios, told us that customers in the Netherlands keep choosing the 1608 because of the punchy, open sound it provides and
because of the fact that the console produces "purist audio at a great price." We think Helios is an outstanding partner with API both in
initial sales representation for our 1608 consoles and module products as well as with after sales service, support and training. |

Committee |
Jeremy Dudman wins A2D at AES ConventionA highlight of the AES, especially for young, up-and-coming engineers
is the Student Recording Competition, where audio engineering students from around the country submit an example of their work in hopes of being recognized by the AES
judging committee. There are a number of different audio categories in the competition, but API sponsored the Surround Non-Classical category and provided an
A2D for the winner. Middle Tennessee State University student Jeremy Dudman entered his recording "Visceral Vernacular" by Tim Lake —
one of eight songs he recorded for his Master of Fine Arts final project — and won! Jeremy told us that his goal for his overall project was to arrange, record
and produce every track while consciously envisioning the outcome in surround sound. It's just a coincidence, but Jeremy's project was mixed on the 48-channel API
Vision in Studio A at MTSU. We're glad to see that he got the recognition his hard work deserved. Congrats, Jeremy! |

VisionThis year's AES convention was really an exciting time for us. Not only did we announce Studio 270's decision to purchase a Legacy Plus with Vision
automation, but we were also able to reveal the rebirth of Wisseloord Studios in the Netherlands! API and fellow sponsors Avid/Euphonix, Eggleston Works, PMC, Prism
Sound and SPL have worked with Ronald Prent, Wisseloord Studios' creative managing director, and Paul Reynolds, commercial managing director, to help bring the
historic studio back to life. As Ronald was a big part of the development of the first Vision console (delivered to Galaxy Studios in Belgium), we are thrilled to be
supplying a 64-channel Vision for the studio anchor at Wisseloord. Seeing as the studio will continue with its original emphasis on the power of music, we're eagerly
looking forward to hearing the projects that come from the facility. Plans call for Wisseloord Studios to reopen June 1, 2011. |
 yellow DOG Studios |
yellow DOG Studios gets a second 1608After having a 1608 console installed in their
Austin, Texas, studio just earlier this year, yellow DOG Studios has recently received an additional 32-channel 1608 analog recording desk! Studio co-owner
and producer-arranger Ed Robinson told us that shortly after yellow DOG had installed the first 1608, he and his business partner, producer-engineer David
Percefull, found themselves with a fully booked schedule — mostly with artists who visited the studio during the SXSW festival. When Robinson and
Percefull saw some available commercial space adjacent to yellow DOG in May they decided to lease it and commission a second 1608 through API dealer Mercenary
Audio. We couldn't be more thrilled about yellow DOG's decision to outfit their studio with not one, but TWO API 1608s — thanks for choosing
us! See Press Release |
