A Great Day for Strange WeatherStrange Weather Studio in Brooklyn, NY recently received the largest API 1608 frame we have made to date. Owner Mark
Alan Goodman had a 16-channel 1608, before he returned it to the API factory, where it was transformed into a 48-channel console with an additional empty bucket
and the P-Mix automation package. API's Jordan Shirks and Phil Cappelli delivered and installed the newly configured console into the new studio space designed by
Wes Lachot. |

Studio du Hameau: A French API Love StoryAPI was recently noted for the world-renowned
1608 in the French magazine, KR Home Studio. The article, Studio du Hameau: les charmes du residential, roughly translates to Studio Hamlet: The Charms of Residential and features a large picture of
the coveted API 1608 console with a 16-channel expander. The studio is located about 200 km from Paris in a remote area between La Ferte Bernard and Belleme and is defined as part studio, part showroom with a
"modern and rustic, contemporary and vintage feel." Studio owner, Sergei Balmayer began building his masterpiece in 2004 and has since recorded a number of records, from indie projects to platinum-selling albums.
Averaging about 20 artists per year, clients include Izia (specifically, So Much Trouble with Sebastien Hoog), Zaz, Camille, and Jeanne Cherhal. When choosing a console, Sergei knew the importance of analog. "[I
chose an API 1608, (I) was the first studio to put a commercial operation in France.]" He plans to build a second studio in the future and will also use an API 1608. |

Peabody Conservatory upgrades to an API 1608
The prestigious Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore recently installed a 1608 console with API's P-Mix automation in Studio D of the Leakin Hall
complex. Students in the Recording Arts and Sciences programs, which include both Bachelor of Music and Master of Arts degrees, get hands-on with the 1608 as they familiarize
themselves with analog mixdown techniques. Performances by the Conservatory's music students regularly are recorded for use by the Recording Arts and Sciences classes. The custom
furniture built for the 1608 has expansion capability in anticipation of adding a 16 channel 1608 expander in the near future.

Source celebrates API distribution deal
at British Grove StudiosLondon — October 1st, 2012 Source Distribution celebrates its recent appointment as the API distributor for the UK and Ireland by holding a combined press and VIP event at Mark
Knopfler's spectacular British Grove Studios in London. Joining the Source team were API President Larry Droppa, Director of Sales Dan Zimbelman and Director of Engineering Jeffrey Bork — all of whom flew in
from the USA especially for the event to treat the assembled audience of press and dealers to a short presentation covering the company history of API, its product development (and that of its subsidiary brand JDK) and an
impressively long list of high profile users around the world. Additionally Droppa unveiled the release of two new JDK 500 series modular products — the V10 Microphone Preamplifier and the V12 Compressor. Source's
Director of Distributed Brands Howard Jones also took the opportunity to introduce new Pro Audio Product Specialist Andy Bensley, who has joined the Source team to promote API products and Source's other high end brands by
offering a one-to-one demo service for both dealers and end users. Having installed a comprehensive API demo system in the live area of the studio, Bensley then took the opportunity to demonstrate the API 1608 console, 500
series modules and outboard products to visitors. "The day was a huge success and just confirmed the reason we chose Source as a distribution partner," continued API's Droppa. "To fill one of London's
premier studios with the cream of the UK recording industry is not an easy task, but Source has the connections and the marketing nous to pull it off. It's exactly that kind of proactive approach that we're looking for, and
we're delighted with our choice of new distributor." |
