Ethan Johns — record producer, engineer, mixer, and songwriter — was featured in a recent profile in Sound on Sound where he called an API desk at RAK in London one of his favorite desks to work on. Although the 1608 has become very popular in Europe, classic API consoles are a rarity, especially in London. Johns has worked with impressive artists such as the Rolling Stones, Kings of Leon and Ray LaMontagne and said, of the API consoles, "The APIs are probably the best all-around console ever made, I think. You could cut a country record in there, you could cut an acoustic record, you could cut rock & roll on it. Working at RAK is pretty cool, 'cause there's the API and the room is really nice."
