Many of our certified dealers have API gear on their show floor, or in their demo room. But, when Wind Over the Earth owner Mark Venezia was making decisions about his new location, he knew he wanted not one but two new 1608s in the space. He says that "now with construction nearing completion we are purchasing our second 1608, but this time we are getting a 32 channel version." Venezia is also considering automation for the demo room's second console.
The consoles will make their debut at the WOTE Opening Party, when the second location opens in Longmont, Colorado. "We will be recording several bands live through the console," Venezia says. Part of what has the dealers doubling up their API sound is the console's variety. "When tracking, it is the 212 pres that we are most pleased with. You still get that classic API sound on drums." When mixing, he says "we really like the headroom and imaging we get on the 1608."
