Floating Points (Sam Shepherd) once shared his sleeping space with API. Last week Shepherd told Resident Advisor Magazine that when he was just starting out, "My bedroom was a wall of records, the 1608, a desk and a load of synths. I had to crawl under the mixer to get to my bed. It was absolutely hilarious. You couldn't walk in it." Space aside, Shepherd says the 1608 was an essential purchase for his development as a musician, producer and DJ. "That's a seriously professional desk. At the time I thought, 'I know this is what I want to do with the rest of my life and I know I want to get control over this sound.' I'd put out a few records by then and I was more certain of what I wanted to achieve. So I went crazy and bought that thing."
