API is excited to announce that several of this year's Grammy winners used API gear in tracking and mastering their albums.
Bruno Mars' album 24K Magic won big with Album, Record and Song of the Year, in addition to Best R&B Album, Song and Performance. The album's Engineer Charles Moniz, now the winner of a Best Engineered Album Grammy, used API 512c mic pres and 550b EQs to record 24K Magic. Mars' live performance at the awards ceremony also saw use of API's TranZformer Series guitar and bass pedals by his band.
Heavy metal band Mastodon, in addition to being nominated for Best Rock Album, also won the Best Metal Performance award for their song "Sultan's Curse" off Emperor of Sand. This album was engineered by Tom Tapley, who tracked with a vintage API 2488 console and used a 1608 console for dubbing.
