Remembering Kooster McAllister

Legendary recording Engineer and friend of API Kooster McAllister sadly passed away on March 23, 2018. Kooster is perhaps best remembered as the Owner and head Engineer of Record Plant Remote.

Kooster started as an assistant Engineer with the renowned Record Plant Studios in New York City and, during his time there, worked his way up to Chief Engineer. In 1991 he purchased Record Plant's remote recording division and launched Record Plant Remote. The business soon became the leader in remote recording, tracking some of the biggest names in the music industry, including the Rolling Stones, The Who, Bruce Springsteen, Prince, and Billy Joel, to name just a few. Record Plant Remote also recorded many major music festivals and live broadcasts, which earned Kooster multiple Emmy nominations. He also garnered a Grammy for his work on the acclaimed documentary film Standing in the Shadows of Motown.

Like the rest of the pro audio industry, we have long admired Kooster for his talent and unforgettable contributions to the music industry throughout his lifetime. He will be greatly missed.
