The Bubble studio in Austin, TX was one of the first API 1608 customers when the console was made available in 2008. Since its installation, The Bubble has expanded its 1608 to 32 channels.

Of the decision to place an API console in their A room, Co-Owner Alex Lyon said, "We like the API preamps and the idea of the 500 series modules, so that you can customize it, in a way. But the biggest thing is that if something breaks, you can call API and they will fix it."

The Bubble, whose mission is to raise Austin's recording industry standards to match that of the city's live music scene, has become a go-to recording hub for artists such as: Built to Spill, Meat Puppets, Jet, the Dandy Warhols, The Toadies, Clem Burke of Blondie, and Britt Daniel of Spoon. However, Lyon says they work mostly with new up-and-coming artists, adding, "That's where the excitement is, helping guide them."
