API Celebrates 50 Years of Timeless Sound

On Thursday October 17th, API threw an unforgettable bash celebrating our 50th Anniversary at the beautiful SONY Hall in New York City. The party was the talk of the AES New York Show — and it did not disappoint! The venue was packed with guests and food and drinks were off the charts, with stunning performances by the Victor Wooten Band, the incredible Fab Faux, Sonny Landreth, Justin Johnson, and a surprise guest performance by the legendary Steve Miller.

Midway through the celebration the room grew silent as Yren Berry and Debbie Martinez, the daughters of renowned API Co-Founder Saul Walker, presented API President Larry Droppa with the 2019 Technical GRAMMY posthumously awarded to Mr. Walker. If there was a dry eye in the house, we couldn't find it! Lauded Producer Jim Anderson also offered his heartfelt words.

Mike Rodriguez produced outstanding video segments shown during the party, highlighting studios and producers throughout the country who champion API. Each guest left the party with a coveted API "lunchbox," packed with special 50th Anniversary t-shirts, API stickers, and famous Maryland Berger cookies (in lieu of Maryland blue crabs)!

We'd like to offer a sincere thank you to everyone — families, friends, musicians, and industry pros — that turned out to help us celebrate 50 years of timeless sound. Here's to 50 more!
