"When I decided to open Angels Gate Recording Studio, I went with the best choice for a small footprint analog recording console — the API 1608. That console gets that warm analog sound that I need to get the best out of today's digital recording formats. Along with the 2500 compressor, the console allows me to make some of the best sounding recordings. For tracking or mixing music for albums, voiceovers, television or radio, the 550As and 560s deliver the sound I need every time."
A longtime studio and touring technician for the likes of Stevie Wonder, Smash Mouth and Joe Walsh, Kevin Allison set out from Los Angeles for New Zealand's South Island in early 2011 to open Angels Gate Recording Studio. Today, Allison is both studio owner and producer at the Christchurch facility, and has recorded and a variety of up-and-coming Kiwi acts, including Shayna King, Amy Bowie and Black Sand Sprint. Allison and Angels Gate Recording Studio also provide voiceover services for TV shows, documentaries and commercials.
