The API 3124+ preamp recently played an integral part of a very special show for legendary alternative-rock group Green Day. In the May edition of Mix Magazine, engineers and techs at the Greek Theater in Green Day's hometown of Berkeley, California discussed the gear that was used in this unique performance. API's preamps, which are known for their strength with vocals, made quite the impression.
"The backing vocals all sing through Telefunken M 80 microphones. They all have API 3124+ preamps on them... For Green Day, audience interaction is essential, to be able to feel like Billie [Joe Armstrong] is speaking directly to them. They're a very dynamic band," said front-of-house engineer Kevin Lemoine.
