API is thrilled to impart that our esteemed Co-Founder Saul Walker will receive the Recording AcademyTM Technical GRAMMY® Award in 2019. The award will be acknowledged at the GRAMMYs on Feb. 10 and a formal Recording AcademyTM award ceremony on May 11.

Beginning in 1969, Saul Walker forever changed the audio world with products like the API 312 mic preamp, 325 line driver, 512 mic preamp, the 550 EQ, and 1604 console. All of these products used Walker's world-renowned 2520 Op Amp and created a unique, warm analog sound that has never been matched. Mr. Walker's unparalleled talent and creativity established API as an industry powerhouse, and even 50 years later, his groundbreaking designs remain the sonic backbone of API.

Both an innovative designer and engineer, and an influential teach and mentor, Mr. Walker was tremendously respected in the pro audio industry. Students, colleagues and customers alike remember him as an exceptionally brilliant, kind and gifted man.
