"I tracked all the guitars for "Guitar Nerd," through the API A2D in my home studio. I have a cab isolated in a closet with two mics hardwired to the A2D, then digital out to an Apogee Ensemble, and I run Logic 9 on a Mac Pro.

"The API preamps just sound fantastic on guitars—there's a forward character and a clarity that I just love. I use the 2:1 feature often as well; it's great for adding some extra harmonic saturation to rock guitars.

For the past 20 years, Peter Thorn has worked as a professional guitarist, playing and touring with the likes of Jewel, Melissa Etheridge and Chris Cornell to name a few. In 2005, Thorn constructed his own home studio where he has since recorded his guitar tracks for Courtney Love, Peter Cincotti and numerous other artists. Additionally, Thorn both tracked and mixed his own album, "Guitar Nerd," entirely in his home studio.
