While the sheer numbers of 1608's delivered has been a huge success, it turns out that a 48 channel version is quite a rarity. Only four have been built so far. Now in the production queue, the fifth 48 channel 1608, fitted with P-Mix automation, will be finding its home at the Puebla campus of the prestigious Technológico de Monterrey University in Mexico early next year. Says Gustavo Martinez of API's Mexican distributor Vari Internacional: "The 1608 is equally at home in the project studio, the commercial studio or in an educational facility. It's one of the many reasons we enjoy selling it."
